PHOENIX (AP) - Two private security officers have been detained by Phoenix police after a shooting outside a bar that left one man wounded.

Police say a fight precipitated the shooting about 2 a.m. Monday outside The Funny Farm bar.

According to police, a patron got into an argument with one of the security guards.

A 37-year-old man tried to intervene in an attempt to defuse the situation and was shot by a security guard.

The man suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was transported to a hospital in critical but stable condition and is expected to survive.

The security guard who fired the shot left the scene but returned to the location when police called him back for questioning.

Police say no arrest has been made at this time.
