PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Providence 14-year-old has made it to the finals in the National Geographic Bee in Washington, D.C.
Max Levine, an eighth grader at Wheeler School, is one of 10 students to advance to Wednesday’s finals.
He was one of 54 students to make it through the preliminary round of the 26th annual bee on Monday.
It’s Levine’s second year in the bee.
The winner of the bee will receive a $50,000 college scholarship, lifetime membership in the National Geographic Society and a trip to the Galapagos Islands. The second- and third-place winners receive college scholarships for $25,000 and $10,000.
