PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a 23-year-old woman heading home from work was killed in a one-car crash on the Taconic State Parkway.
They say Vaughna Jarvis of Poughkeepsie was driving northbound on Saturday when she lost control of her vehicle while attempting to change lanes in the Town of Putnam Valley.
Police say she struck a ditch, causing the vehicle to roll over and hit a tree before returning to the roadway.
They say Jarvis was to have graduated from Dominican College’s nursing program on Sunday.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Police say she was wearing a seat belt and there was no indication alcohol or drugs was a factor in the collision.
