ROCKY POINT, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a 54-year-old motorcyclist was killed when his Harley Davidson sideswiped a car and struck some trees on Long Island.

The crash occurred at 8:55 p.m. Sunday in Rocky Point.

Police say Russell Pallace was riding eastbound on Route 25A when he sideswiped a 2009 Cadillac. Police say he then headed westbound on Route 25A and turned south on Rocky Point Road where he attempted to pass other vehicles.



Police say he lost control of the bike, left the roadway and struck some trees.

The Mastic resident was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcycle has been impounded for safety checks.

The driver of the Cadillac was not injured.

The investigation is continuing.
