HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) - A Harrisonburg group is being honored for its downtown revitalization efforts.

The nonprofit Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance is one of three winners of the 2013 Great American Main Street Award presented by the National Main Street Center. The other winners are Milledgeville, Georgia, and Woodbine, Iowa.

The National Main Street Center announced the awards Sunday night in a news release.

The center says Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance has increased the number of downtown housing units, fostered the redevelopment of significant historic buildings and created economic incentives for small businesses and entrepreneurs.
