TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in Tucson say a dead body has been found in an electrical vault on the city’s east side.

The body was discovered Monday by crews from Tucson Electric Power who opened the manhole to investigate a power fluctuation.

Pima County Sheriff’s officials say it’s unclear how long the body has been in the manhole, which was last opened in 2009.

There’s no immediate word on the body’s gender or identity or how the person died.

TEP officials say they’ll have to turn off the power in the area before law enforcement can remove the body.

The search and rescue team will send the remains to the medical examiner.

Sheriff’s officials say homicide and forensic crews will investigate the case.
