WAPELLO, Iowa (AP) - Two brothers were killed in a single vehicle crash east of Wapello in southeast Iowa.

The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday that the crash occurred about 5:30 a.m. Sunday on County Road X61 when the driver of a vehicle failed to negotiate a turn. The car entered a ditch, hit a dirt pile, became airborne and overturned onto its roof.

The driver, 52-year-old Ricky Lynn Hartsock, of rural Letts, and 53-year-old passenger Randy Wayne Hartsock, of rural Columbus Junction, were taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where both died.

KWQC-TV reports that the two men were brothers.

The sheriff’s office and Iowa State Patrol are investigating.
