SWANTON, Vt. (AP) - An open house is being held to celebrate Vermont’s Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge in Swanton.
The area has been designated as a wetland of international importance.
Saturday’s open house starts at 7:30 a.m. at the refuge visitor center, seven miles west of Swanton.
People are urged to bring binoculars and help survey on foot and by boat the more than 180 different bird species that use the refuge in the spring.
There will also an art show, art projects for kids and a guest speaker at 1 p.m.
The Missisquoi Delta and Bay was recently honored as a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance.
