LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Authorities say the motorist involved in a head-on crash with a Lincoln County school bus earlier this month has died.

According to WLEX-TV (https://bit.ly/RKCgQg ), the Fayette County coroner says 36-year-old William Otis Coleman died Saturday due to injuries sustained in the crash.

Officials said Coleman was driving a pickup truck that crashed into a school bus on Kentucky 78 outside of Stanford on May 7. Kentucky State Police said the bus driver, Judy Asbery, swerved into the oncoming lane of traffic in an attempt to avoid colliding into the back of another bus that was stopped in traffic.

Coleman was cut out of the wreckage and airlifted to the University of Kentucky Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officials said 28 students were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
