NEW YORK (AP) - Police say they’ve located a man who slipped out of his handcuffs and escaped custody at a hospital.

They say George Jordan was apprehended Saturday inside a Far Rockaway home, a day after he went on the lam.

Jordan was originally arrested Friday on charges of petit larceny and resisting arrest after police say he was observed shoplifting bars of soap and other items from a Queens pharmacy.

Police say officers took the 36-year-old Queens man from a stationhouse to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital when he complained of shortness of breath a few hours after his arrest.

That’s where they say he slipped out of his handcuffs and fled. Jordan now faces an additional charge for escaping custody.
