CHICAGO (AP) - Police carrying out a search warrant in Chicago have discovered guns and thousands of dollars worth of marijuana at a residence in the same building as a licensed daycare center.

Police say they arrested a resident of the property Friday after officers conducting surveillance saw him taking part in a drug deal. Then they carried out the search of the two-flat in the Austin neighborhood.

According to a news release, officers found and seized two guns, marijuana valued at more than $20,000, as well as $2,700 in cash.

The daycare center is located in the building’s basement.

Fifty-two-year-old Keith Lee faces a variety of drugs and weapons charges. He was to appear in bond court Saturday. It was not immediately clear if he already had an attorney.
