CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Bond has been denied for a man arrested in connection with the case of a missing Hollywood woman.

Charleston County Sheriff Al Cannon said a body wrapped in cloth was found on Friday in the woods off a road about a half mile west of the home of 77-year-old Julia Ann Mudgett.

Mudgett’s friends reported her missing after she didn’t show up for a Bible study class. Investigators say window was broken and blood was found at the home.

Authorities arrested 53-year-old Jerry Lee Manigault last Monday on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender. Assistant Sheriff Mitch Lucas said a murder warrant for Manigault was drawn up Friday before the body was found, and he is also charged with first-degree murder and first-degree burglary.
