TEA, S.D. (AP) - The Tea School District will recount ballots in an election in which voters rejected a $9.9 million expansion by just two votes.

District Business Manager Kathy Cleveland tells KDLT-TV (https://bit.ly/1gaxgQ9 ) that the necessary three registered voters have signed the paperwork to force a recount. She says three people will be selected to conduct the recount - one from the supporting group, one from the opposition group and one person mutually agreed upon.

Cleveland expects the recount to be completed within a week.

The measure rejected Tuesday called for adding 14 elementary school classrooms and building a 614-seat performing arts center. Supporters said crowding is a problem in the southeastern South Dakota school district, but opponents said proposed additions are a waste of money.
