SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office says a former clerk at a Shreveport convenience store has been arrested, accused of stealing more than $60,000 from the business.

Sheriff Steve Prator tells The Times (https://bit.ly/1ls328X ) that 44-year-old Candee Brown, of Shreveport, was arrested Thursday and booked into the parish jail on a theft charge.

Prator says store management became suspicious of Brown when an internal audit revealed massive shortages.

Prator says the store investigated further and found that Brown allegedly, since February, had been ringing up customers, accepting their money then cancelling the sales and placing the cash in her pocket. In addition, he says she is suspected of regularly allowing friends and acquaintances to leave without paying for items.
