ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - A Palisade man has pleaded guilty to a petty offense for failing to leave his name after a March ski accident that left an Aspen man hospitalized with multiple facial injuries.

David Balph said in Pitkin County Court on May 6 that he was guilty of violating the state’s Ski Safety Act because he didn’t identify himself after the accident at Aspen Highlands. He was fined $71.

According to the Aspen Daily News (https://tinyurl.com/ksgfnq2 ), the unidentified victim told authorities he was skiing by himself March 11 when another skier came out of the woods and hit him.

Balph told authorities the other skier hit him and neither was seriously injured. He said he did not know he was required to stop and give the other skier his name.
