WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) - A Wisconsin woman accused of trying to hire someone to kill her boyfriend has entered a plea deal.

Thirty-three-year-old Jessica Strom of Merrill was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree intentional homicide. Investigators say she allegedly offered money and sex to a man to kill her boyfriend.

In a deal with prosecutors Friday, Strom pleaded no contest in Marathon County to an amended charge of solicitation to commit first-degree intentional homicide. WAOW-TV (https://bit.ly/1iTBmqP) reports that carries a maximum sentence of up to 12 years in prison. The original charge carried a maximum sentence of up to 60 years in prison.

The deal means Strom will avoid a trial.

Strom’s defense attorney did not want to comment until sentencing. The sentencing date has not been set yet.
