CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston is awarding degrees to nearly 870 students at its graduation exercises.

The graduates are receiving degrees in various medical disciplines from the university’s six colleges during the Friday commencement in McAlister Field House on the campus of The Citadel.

John Seffrin, CEO of the American Cancer Society, is the commencement speaker. The society is the world’s largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting cancer.
