FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - A Fort Collins woman accused in a hit-and-run crash that killed a cyclist in January could avoid prison time under a plea deal in the case.

Twenty-eight-year-old Theresa Marie O’Connor pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident and careless driving resulting in death Wednesday. She hit 46-year-old Ernesto Wiedenbrug near Windsor on Jan. 25 and turned herself in over a week later. He later died of his injuries.

The Coloradoan (https://noconow.co/1lqbHYf ) reports that a judge will decide her sentence on July 2. The deal calls for her to serve probation or be put in community corrections although she could face up to a year in jail for the careless driving charge.

O’Connor’s lawyer says she suffered from a “medical condition” that caused her to get dizzy before the crash.
