SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Duchesne High School student has been charged after police say he stabbed another boy in the arm and back during gym class.

The 18-year-old Leland Patrick King was charged in district court Thursday with felony aggravated assault. He was also charged with possessing a dangerous weapon at school, which is a misdemeanor.

Police say the injured 17-year-old is in the hospital and is expected to recover.

Authorities say the younger boy Wednesday began calling the older student names, then followed him into a locker room.

Duchesne County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy David Boren tells the Deseret News (https://bit.ly/1nPNYqD) the older student later left the locker room, dropping a knife.

King is booked in Duchesne county Jail. He faces five years to life in prison.

He is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
