ELIZABETHTOWN, N.C. (AP) - A Roberson County sheriff’s deputy and a woman riding with him have died after a personal watercraft accident on the Cape Fear River near Elizabethtown.
Authorities said the victims were 30-year-old Thomas Bradley Carter and 27-year-old Charlotte Paige McLellan.
They died early Wednesday near Lock and Dam 2 on the river. Carter had worked as a sheriff’s deputy for more than three years.
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission and the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.
