LAUREL, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police have charged a man with driving under the influence of alcohol after his car crashed into a gas pump and went into a store in Laurel.

It happened early Thursday at the Sandy Fork General Store. Troopers say 22-year-old Trent Hitchens of Millsboro was traveling south on Shiloh Church Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign.

Police say Hitchens drove into the store’s parking lot, hit a gas pump and crashed into the front of the business.

A passenger in the car, 29-year-old Raymond Davis of Millsboro, was flown to Christiana Medical Center, where police say he was admitted in stable condition.

Hitchens is charged with DUI and vehicular assault.
