WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) - A jury has returned a split verdict in the theft trial of a northeastern Pennsylvania towing operator who had an exclusive contract with the city of Wilkes-Barre.

The Luzerne County jury deliberated for about three hours Thursday before finding 43-year-old Leo Glodzik III guilty of theft by unlawful taking and not guilty of theft from a motor vehicle.

Prosecutors alleged Glodzik stole more than $2,000 in bait money during an FBI sting in January 2013. They claimed he took the cash from a vehicle purportedly towed after a drug arrest and tried to split it with a state trooper posing as a corrupt police officer.

Defense attorney Joseph Sklarosky Sr. said the trooper had a personal grudge against his client and framed him.

Glodzik will be sentenced in July.
