OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) - Jackson County Road Department workers have started a project to fill in an eroded section of Front Beach in Ocean Springs.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1ldCFU5 ) the first three trucks of sand arrived on site Tuesday.

Jackson County supervisors voted Monday to repair the beach at a cost to the county between $25,000 and $30,000. Motorists and walkers can expect delays through Thursday as about 2,500 yards of sand are brought in for the job, extending the beach out 80 feet from the sidewalk.

The beach that protects the sidewalk has eroded away in one spot and wave action is now pulling sand from beneath the boardwalk, causing separation and cracks.
