GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - A 39-year-old Waveland man has been sentenced to 33 months in prison on charges of making and passing counterfeit money.

Federal prosecutors say in a news release that Alton Emerson Morgan was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Gulfport. He also was sentenced to three years’ supervised probation and to pay $760 in restitution.

Morgan previously pleaded guilty to making counterfeit U.S. currency in Hancock County in 2013 in denominations of $20 and $100. Morgan also pleaded guilty to passing $20 and $50 fake bills in Rankin County in 2012.



Morgan also was fined $2,500.
