BANGOR, Maine (AP) - A Rangeley man who came to the attention of police by firing shots into the woods while drunk is going to prison for 46 months for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

A judge sentenced 23-year-old Frank McConnell III on Wednesday. He also was ordered to pay a $500 fine.

Police say officers who responded to a complaint about a drunken man shooting a gun in Dallas Plantation found McConnell firing a handgun into the woods last July.

Prosecutors say McConnell was intoxicated and prohibited from possessing guns because of convictions for domestic violence and a bail violation.
