WEST UNION, Iowa (AP) - A jury has found a former Iowa school teacher not guilty of a sexual exploitation charge.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1goIqkX ) jurors deliberated for about 13 hours before they returned the verdict Wednesday for James Hanson.

Hanson, of West Union, was a teacher and girls’ basketball coach for the North Fayette Community School District between 2006 and 2013. He was charged with felony sexual exploitation by a school employee after he was accused of fondling a female athlete.



Defense attorney John Hines says the verdict means justice was served.
