PEARLAND, Texas (AP) - A Houston-area teenager has been charged in the killing of a 16-year-old pregnant ex-schoolmate after police determined he was the father of her unborn twins.

Pearland police on Tuesday night announced the arrest of the now-17-year-old suspect on a capital murder charge.

Investigators did not release the name of the juvenile suspect, who was 16 when Arrijana (ar-ee-AH’-nuh) Hill was discovered slain March 21 at her home. An autopsy determined she was stabbed and strangled.

Police did not immediately release a possible motive.

DNA analysis determined paternity of the unborn twins. Lt. Patrick Savage says lab results were needed to build a strong case.

Both teens attended Dawson High School in Pearland. The suspect in late March transferred to Pasadena Memorial High School, where he was arrested Tuesday.
