WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - A former police chief in suburban New York has been indicted on child pornography charges.
A federal indictment made public Wednesday says 54-year-old Brian Fanelli downloaded and shared three videos containing child pornography. An earlier complaint said there were more than 120 images on the files.
Fanelli was police chief in Mount Pleasant for just two months before he was suspended upon his arrest in January. He resigned in March. He had taught sex-abuse awareness classes to schoolchildren.
The U.S. attorney’s office says Fanelli will be arraigned on Monday. He has been on home detention with electronic monitoring since January. He is barred from contact with children or the Internet.
A call to his attorney was not immediately returned.
Mount Pleasant is about 25 miles north of New York City.
