PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix hospital says it’ll use an Arizona couple’s $19 million donation to create a new center for lung, heart and esophageal medicine.
St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center’s foundation received the donation from John and Doris Norton and the new center will be named after them.
The hospital says the donation is the largest in its history and one of the biggest ever given to an Arizona hospital.
According to the hospital’s announcement, organ rejection will be a critical focus of the new center that will be located in several buildings on St. Joseph’s campus.
John Norton was deputy secretary of Agriculture under President Ronald Reagan.
