RENO, Nev. (AP) - A popular, longtime Nevada lobbyist and former chief of staff to ex-Gov. Bob Miller has died at the age of 68.

Scott Craigie was an ex-Marine known for his work as an advocate for children and families. He died Tuesday.

Gov. Brian Sandoval says Craigie was a “a remarkable man with a giant character.”



He served as Miller’s chief of staff from 1989-1993 and later directed Nevada’s Department of Human Resources.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (https://tinyurl.com/knczxwp) his persona was so prominent in major policy issues during Miller’s administration that some lawmakers called him “Gov. Craigie.”

His cause of death has not been released. Funeral arrangements are pending.
