WENDOVER, Nev. (AP) - Police in Wendover have identified the body found earlier this week on Interstate 80 near the Nevada-Utah line but they still don’t know how he died. He’s been identified as 20-year-old Christian Gutierrez of Wendover.

Authorities shut down a stretch of Interstate 80 just east of Wendover for several hours early Monday to investigate.

The Utah Highway Patrol says a driver for called dispatch about 3:30 a.m. to report a possible dead animal on the highway near mile marker No. 1. When troopers arrived, they found a body that appeared to have been struck by multiple vehicles.



Until Tuesday, authorities said they couldn’t even identify the gender of the victim. The case remains under investigation.
