WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) - A northeastern Pennsylvania towing operator who had an exclusive contract with the city of Wilkes-Barre goes on trial Tuesday on felony theft charges.
Prosecutors in Luzerne County allege that 43-year-old Leo Glodzik III stole more than $2,000 in bait money during an FBI sting in January 2013.
Defense attorney Joseph Sklarosky Sr. had asked that a jury be chosen from another area, but a full panel was seated Monday to hear the case.
A police affidavit says the FBI staged a sting operation in which an officer called Glodzik to tow a vehicle purportedly seized in a drug arrest. Court documents say Glodzik found $2,100 in the vehicle, took the money and tried to split it with the officer.
Glodzik’s attorney has said his client was entrapped.
