NEW YORK (AP) - The NYPD has arrested a suspect in connection with a series of hammer attacks in the subway system.

Police say Anthony Coward was arrested Monday. He faces two charges of robbery.

Police say they believe he was behind a total of three attacks in Brooklyn and Queens.



Two of the attacks occurred near a MetroCard machine in Brooklyn. All the victims were hit over the head.

It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.
