SALEM, Ore. (AP) - The 25-year-old woman fatally shot by a Salem police officer has been identified as Jacklynn Rashaun Ford.

The Statesman Journal reports (https://stjr.nl/1lbOPMa) it was not immediately clear where Ford lived, but jail records show that she had been in the Multnomah County Jail in February.

Oregon State Police and the Marion County district attorney’s office are investigating the Friday night shooting. Police say shots were fired after she ran from a traffic stop near Eastgate Basin Park in northeast Salem.

Police say a gun was found near the woman.

Officer Trevor Morrison made the traffic stop and had the police dog Baco with him at the time.

Ford’s uncle, Jim Murphy, told KPTV (https://bit.ly/1lbOvwS ) the family wonders why deadly force was used since the dog could have taken her down.
