HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (AP) - An inmate charged with emailing threats to bomb the county courthouse and disrupt the water supply while jailed in central Pennsylvania wants an out-of-county jury to hear his case.
The Altoona Mirror (https://bit.ly/1uTWpD2 ) says 24-year-old Adam Hardin’s public defender believes it will be impossible to pick an impartial jury in Blair County, where the threats were made in October.
Hardin, of Claysburg, allegedly used a computer in the county prison’s law library to send the threats to WJAC-TV and the Mirror. The media outlets then relayed the threats to authorities.
Although the threats were hoaxes, the Altoona Water Authority had to warn thousands of customers not to use tap water for about two days until tests confirmed that the water was safe.
A judge has set a June 12 hearing on Hardin’s jury request.
