COVINGTON, La. (AP) - A Ponchatoula man’s guilty plea to attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery charges has resulted in a 25-year prison sentence.
Nola.com ’ The Times-Picayune reports (https://bit.ly/1iH3DRh ) 22-year-old Jesse Michael Stowe entered the plea Monday before state District Judge Peter Garcia. Stowe was arrested last summer for a June shooting on the Tammany Trace in Mandeville in which a ranger found Leonard Breaux Jr. unconscious with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Breaux has since recovered from the shooting.
Police arrested Stowe two days after the shooting that police said stemmed from a drug deal gone wrong.
Lt. Gerald Sticker says Garcia sentenced Stowe on Monday.
Lacy Bryant, 23, who police described as Stowe’s girlfriend, pleaded guilty in October to obstruction of justice and two counts of accessory after the fact. She was accused of hiding the weapon used in the shooting and helping Stowe evade arrest.
Garcia placed Bryant on probation for three years.
