OZARK, Ala. (AP) - Sheriff’s deputies have charged a Dale County man in a slaying that happened nearly nine years ago.

The Dothan Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/RAhdje ) deputies and federal marshals arrested 57-year-old Frederick Bernard Hightower of Midland City on Friday and charged him with capital murder.

Authorities suspect Hightower of killing 72-year-old Billy Ray Jackson, who was found stabbed to death in his home on Sept. 3, 2005. Jackson was beaten and stabbed multiple times. Sheriff’s officials say they believe robbery was the motive.

Hightower was being held without bond in the Dale County jail. It was not known if he had an attorney.
