LEESVILE, La. (AP) - The Vernon Parish School Board plans to ask voters in the parish’ 7th Ward to approve a 10-year, $1.2 million bond issue to provide for sidewalks, land acquisition and improvement, playgrounds and the improvement of buildings and facilities.
The American Press reports (https://bit.ly/1eOXZNb ) the bonds would pay for work at Rosepine Elementary and high schools in the parish.
Vernon Parish finance director Tim Ward says the money could be used for new buildings and renovation of existing structure.
He says the School Board is considering a new track for the high school, and may buy land adjacent to the school properties.
