BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The North Dakota Department of Human Services is funding programs intended to curb underage and adult binge drinking.

The grants include funding to 22 local public health units and four tribal nations. The grants range from about $130,000 to $600,000 for the health units, and $130,000 to $260,000 for the tribes.

Officials say that North Dakota ranked second in the nation for past month binge alcohol use.

The awards are meant to help communities develop a plan and implement strategies to tackle the problem.
