ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Deputies say a man is dead after drowning at St. Petersburg’s Fort De Soto Park.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office says 73-year-old Jaime Suarez of Colombia was visiting the beach with his family Saturday afternoon when relatives noticed he was unresponsive.

Bystanders helped pull Suarez out of the water and began CPR.

Suarez was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators say the drowning appears accidental. It is unknown whether any health-related factors may have contributed to the drowning.
