LANSING, Mich. (AP) - The deadline to apply for awards administered by the Michigan Youth Livestock Scholarship Fund is May 31.

Since 2000, the fund has awarded more than $350,000 in scholarships and educational awards to young people who have exhibited at livestock events in the state.

The fund is governed by a 10-member board made up of volunteers from Michigan’s agricultural community.

Last year’s $1,500 general scholarship winners were from Burr Oak, Owosso, Quincy, South Rockwood and Zeeland.

The Michigan Youth Livestock Scholarship Fund also awarded $1,000 scholarships to two students and $1,000 and $500 statewide scholarships to one student each.
