BUTTE, Mont. (AP) - A 24-year-old Whitehall man charged with killing a man in Butte has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for conspiring to sell six pounds of methamphetamine.
The Montana Standard reports (https://bit.ly/1uNXhJt) Jeffrey Lackman was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
Lackman faced a maximum sentence of life in prison. But he provided information that led to the indictment of coconspirators in a meth ring.
Lackman has pleaded not guilty to deliberate homicide in the Aug. 5 shooting death of 46-year-old Mark Partelow outside a Butte residence. Prosecutors say Lackman smoked methamphetamine before the shooting.
Trial is set for June in Butte district court. Any sentence he may receive would run consecutive to the federal sentence.
