MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - A man convicted in a Pennsylvania wreck that killed a sheriff’s deputy has been sentenced to up to 18 years in prison for his guilty plea to charges in West Virginia.
Jerod Green was sentenced Friday in Monongalia County Circuit Court on drunken driving and two fleeing charges.
The charges stem from a 2012 hit-and-run accident. West Virginia authorities pursued Green’s truck into southwestern Pennsylvania, where it crashed into Monongalia County Sgt. Todd May’s cruiser. May was killed.
Green was convicted of third-degree murder in Pennsylvania and is serving 25 to 50 years in prison. The Dominion Post (www.dominionpost.com) reports Monongalia County Circuit Judge Russell Clawges ordered the West Virginia sentence to be served consecutively.
May’s family and friends attended the sentencing at which Green apologized to them.
