GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (AP) - An Orange County high school has barred at least 20 students from this weekend’s prom because their attendance records were faked.
The Orange County Register (https://bit.ly/1kWCOeK ) says between 20 and 30 students from Rancho Alamitos High School in Garden Grove have been disciplined.
School district spokeswoman Amy Stevens says administrators discovered last Wednesday that student assistants had changed the attendance records for those kids. The altered records falsely declared the youngsters had served detention for attendance problems - a requirement for them to buy prom tickets.
Stevens says the students are suspended for one to five days - and Saturday’s prom is out.
