DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) - A Dubuque man charged with felony sexual assault has been found guilty of a reduced count of misdemeanor sexual assault.

The Dubuque Telegraph Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1l36q8V ) that a jury on Thursday found 24-year-old Stefan Todorovich guilty of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse. Todorovich is set to be sentenced on June 30.

Prosecutors say the 44-year-old victim reported the assault last June, saying Todorovich - her co-worker - had held her down at a friend’s house and sexually assaulted her.

Todorovich’s attorney noted that portions of the victim’s story were inconsistent and that she had deleted sexually-graphic text messages she and Todorovich exchanged before the assault. But prosecutors countered that Todorovich told investigators the woman had told him “no,” and that he ignored her resistance.
