HICKORY, N.C. (AP) - Officials in Hickory are refusing to release to the public video of an arrest that led to felony assault charges against a police officer.

The Hickory Daily Record reports (https://bit.ly/1fX8uD3 ) the city does not want to release the video because it could taint a potential jury deciding the fate of Sgt. Robert George.

George was fired and arrested after he took Chelsea Doolittle into custody in November. Authorities say she was pulled from a car and thrown to the ground, caused her teeth to be pushed in. She also needed surgery. She was being arrested for misdemeanor disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

The video has been shown to Doolittle and her lawyer. But a court order prevents anyone else from seeing it, including Doolittle’s parents.
