HERMISTON, Ore. (AP) - Hermiston’s police chief says crime is down in the first quarter of this year.

The East Oregonian reports (https://bit.ly/1mN4ow9 ) that chief Jason Edmiston reported 126 crimes to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting database, down from 156 during the same period a year ago.

Property crimes fell 36 percent, including a drop of auto thefts from 17 last year to just two this year. Violent crimes fell from seven last year to three this year.
