BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - College students moving out of dorms and apartments or residents who want more room in their homes are encouraged to bring unwanted furniture and other household items to the annual spring street swap in Burlington.
The Spring Move Out Project takes place Thursday, May 22, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at two locations on lower Buell Street and Loomis Street.
College students get rid of clothing, books, household items, furniture, and non-perishable food items. Leftovers are donated to charities and reuse stores.
Unusable furniture and other items that are in disrepair will be accepted at Dumpsters for a fee ranging from $4 to $20.
Electronics, scrap-metal items, tires and large appliances will not be accepted at the event but can be taken to Chittenden Solid Waste District drop-off centers.
