WATCHUNG, N.J. (AP) - An off-duty officer with the New York City Police Department has been arrested in New Jersey.
The Somerset County prosecutor’s office says 43-year-old Wanda Anthony of Staten Island was arrested Wednesday on charges of aggravated assault and unlawful weapons possession.
Prosecutors say Anthony allegedly went to a Watchung residence with a man around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday and got into an altercation at the man’s home with another woman. Police found shots fired into a car parked at the home.
It’s not immediately known if Anthony, who posted $60,000 bail, has an attorney.
Police say Anthony was stopped in a vehicle after allegedly fleeing the scene. Police say she identified herself as an NYPD officer and refused a field sobriety test.
She was initially arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated.
