NEW YORK (AP) - A Long Island man is charged with fleeing the scene of a deadly crash.
Suffolk County police say 24-year-old Ryan Bales fled early Thursday after striking 20-year-old Alexander Zydel on Soundview Avenue in their hometown of East Northport.
Police say Zydel was ejected onto the roadway a short time earlier when he crashed his SUV into a tree.
Detectives arrested Bales on Thursday night.
He’s being held overnight at the second precinct in Huntington and will be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.
It was not immediately clear if Bales has a lawyer.
